English Review:
For a really long time Anna-Lisa talked me into it and constantly recommended me the author Nalini Singh because she is a huge fan of her. I don‘t know why I’ve bristled so long, maybe the length of the book series has deterred me, although I’ve already the first three books of the Guild Hunter series at home. Hence the past weekend in the evening I‘ve spontaneously decided to try one book of this author. But I’ve chosen the first book of the Psy Changeling series, because I had little desire for angels, and rather wanted something a little harder, more animalistic. ;)

Well, what can I say – I am stocked! No idea why, but it has totally gripped me. Maybe it was also due to the fact that I was in the right mood for the book, but it has just blown me away. I couldn‘t put it aside any more and the last time I read that fast, was when I got my hand on ‘Lover Reborn’ by Ward this spring. I’ve totally overlooked the time in the first evening, so that I even read till half past three through the night and at this time I’ve almost read three quarters of the book. But I just can’t stop, because I was totally captive in the story.

At which I can’t exactly say what has fascinated me so much, because the first book of Showalter’s ‘Lords of the Underworld’ was also not bad, but it hasn’t pulled me in the spell like this book could it. I think often it‘s just a matter of feelings and here I was in it with my heart all the time. The main characters Sasha and also Lucas have made me curious from the first pages on, later I was thrilled by them. And this although Lucas wasn’t always an easy, comfortable character and here and there he was also too proprietary. Also his ‘term of endearment’ for Sasha has annoyed me, but nevertheless, I’ve loved him. Just like Sasha, who should have no feelings as a Psy. But she has them; and they blossom on and on, the more time she spends with Lucas. And he shows her not only a world beyond the cold of the psys, but also kindles her passion and her sparks for the life, full of feelings, family, friends and love. Of course now and then there are some erotic scenes in it, which I found really ‘nice’. ;)

But not only these both figures could grab me, no – but also the other characters, which were briefly introduced. Above all Tammy, who I find awesome and just good-hearted. I would also like to have a friend like her. But I also was thrilled by Dorian, with his internal fury and hatred for the Psys, or by Hawke – for whose story I’m already looking forward dearly, although he gets his time not till book 10! *aaah*cry, baby*.

The manner of Singh’s writing is liquid and easy to read, with the right serving in explanations and excesses and also the dialogues are embedded well. She tells the story in the past in the 3rd person narrator, and changes the point of view constantly between Sasha and Lucas. What is typically and also suitably for this kind of stories.

Of course I also have to tell you briefly a few deficiencies. Although the structures of the world of the Psys and also the shape shifters were well worked out and it was shown understandably, but at the end of the story there lacked some information. For example it has disturbed me, that all the time it was pointed out to a mean murderer/ the villain (to tell the truth, who I’ve figured out at the second meeting) and then, at the big showdown, it wasn’t told a lot about it. It was only described in the renarration what has happened to the bad guy. But I would have wished for to be present and read it, when the ‘final’ happened with him. Then it unfortunately was also over too fast and I easily could still have read some more pages of it.
And now I wait impatiently for the next part and can’t wait to dive into this world again. *sigh*

The cover is typical for stories in this genre and, yes, it’s quite okay, but honestly, it could be better. ;)

All in all:
It’s a great new series for me, which I will read on with pleasure very soon and my luck is, that I’ve started this series so late, that now I can read them luxurious without waiting till the next part is released, because they are already all published till book 12! Great, great, great! If you like the ‘Black Daggers’ or the ‘Lord of the Underworld’ then this series is also a tidbit – promised!

Ewig ist mir Anna-Lisa in den Ohren gelegen und hat mir Nalini Singh empfohlen, da sie ein riesiger Fan dieser Autorin ist. Ich weiß nicht, warum ich mich so lange gesträubt habe, wahrscheinlich hat mich die Länge der Buchreihen abgeschreckt, dabei habe ich sogar die ersten drei Bänder der Guild Hunter Serie zuhause herum liegen – schon ewig. Daher habe ich mich vergangenes Wochenende spontan am Abend dazu entschieden, einmal ein Buch dieser Autorin zur Hand zu nehmen. Dabei habe ich mich aber für den ersten Teil der Psy Changeling Reihe entschieden, da ich wenig Lust auf Engel hatte und lieber etwas härteres, animalischeres wollte. ;)

Tja, und was soll ich sagen – ich bin begeistert! Keine Ahnung warum, aber es hat mich total gepackt. Vielleicht lag es auch daran, dass ich gerade in der richtigen Stimmung für das Buch war, aber es hat mich einfach weg geblasen. Konnte es nicht mehr aus der Hand legen und habe es so schnell gelesen, wie das letzte Mal bei ‘Lover Reborn’ von Ward. Ich habe sogar total die Zeit übersehen und am ersten Abend bis halb 3 in der Nacht nur gelesen, und damit bereits fast dreiviertel des Buches geschafft. Aber ich wollte/ konnte mich einfach nicht trennen.

Wobei ich jetzt nicht genau sagen kann, was mich so fasziniert hat, denn der erste Teil von Showalters ‚Herren der Unterwelt‘ war auch nicht schlecht, hat mich aber nicht so in den Bann gezogen, wie dieses Buch hier. Oft ist es einfach eine Gefühlssache und hier war ich die ganze Zeit mit dem Herzen dabei. Die Hauptfiguren Sascha und auch Lucas haben mich von den ersten Seiten an neugierig gemacht, später war ich begeistert von ihnen bis hin, dass ich nun ein riesiger Fans von ihnen bin. Und das, obwohl Lucas nicht nur ein leichter, angenehmer Charakter ist, sondern stellenweise machohaft und zu besitzergreifend. Auch sein Kosewort für Sascha ist mir auch auf die Nerven gegangen, aber trotzdem habe ich ihn geliebt. Genauso wie Sascha, die als Mediale (Psy) keine Gefühle haben sollte. – Hat sie aber, und diese erblühen immer weiter, je mehr Zeit sie mit Lucas verbringt. Und er zeigt ihr nicht nur eine Welt außerhalb der Kälte der Medialen, sondern entfacht auch ihre Leidensschaft und ihren Funken für das Leben voller Gefühle, Familie, Freunde und Passion. Natürlich sind auch hin und wieder erotische Szenen vorgekommen, die ich ganz ‚nett‘ fand. *räusper* ;)

Aber nicht nur diese beiden Figuren konnten mich bewegen, nein, auch die anderen, die leider nur kurz angedeutet und präsentiert wurden. Vor allem Tammy find ich klasse und einfach nur herzensgut. So eine Freundin hätte ich auch gerne. Aber ich war auch begeistert von Dorian, mit seiner inneren Wut und Hass auf die Medialen (Psy), oder von Hawke – auf dessen Geschichte ich mich jetzt schon freue, obwohl er erst in Buch 10 dran kommt. *aaah heul*

Die Schreibweise von Singh ist flüssig und leicht zu lesen, mit der richtigen Portion an Erklärungen und Ausschweifungen und auch die Dialoge sind meistens gut eingebettet. Sie erzählt in der Vergangenheit in der 3. Person und wechselt dabei die Sicht zwischen Sascha und Lucas. Was typisch und auch passend für diese Art von Geschichten ist.

Natürlich muss ich auch kurz ein paar Mängel angeben. Obwohl die Strukturen der Welt der Medialen und auch der Gestaltwandler gut ausgearbeitet und es verständlich gezeigt wurde, fehlen mir am Ende der Geschichte ein paar Informationen. Wie zb. hat es mich gestört, dass die ganze Zeit auf einen Mörder hingewiesen wurde, der Bösewicht (bei dem ich ehrlich gesagt schon bei der zweiten Begegnung gewusst habe, wer es ist…), und dann als der Showdown kam, wurde nicht viel davon erzählt. Nur in der Nacherzählung, was aus ihm geworden ist. Aber ich hätte mir hier gewünscht dabei zu sein, wenn sie ihn stellen und er gesteht und live zu lesen, was mit ihm passiert. Außerdem war es dann leider auch viel zu schnell zu Ende und ich hätte noch leicht einige Seiten mehr lesen können.
Und jetzt warte ich ‘sitzend auf Nadeln’ auf den nächsten Band und kann es nicht erwarten wieder in diese Welt einzutauchen. *hach*

Das Cover ist typisch für Geschichten in diesem Genre und ja, ist ganz okay, könnte aber ehrlich gesagt besser sein. ;)

All in all:
Eine tolle neue Serie für mich, die ich begeister bald weiterlesen möchte und mein Glück ist es, dass ich so spät damit angefangen habe, dass ich nun genüsslich alle Teile lesen kann, wann ich möchte und nicht warten muss. Toll toll toll! Wenn man die ‘Black Daggers’ oder die ‘Herren der Unterwelt’ mag, dann ist diese Serie auch ein Leckerbissen – versprochen!
